Emerging Community of Women Supporting Women at the 2nd Women Lead Conference

It has been two months since the 2nd edition of the Women Lead Conference took place, wherein hundreds of empowered women gathered at Dusit Thani Manila to celebrate International Women's Day at the second edition of the Women Lead Conference. The event was spearheaded by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc. (ICCPI) and organized in partnership with Global Women BPW Manila Founded by Rayla Allertsen.



The conference showcased the strength, resilience, and achievements of women worldwide and was an inspiring and empowering event that honored the social, economic, and political achievements of women. The gathering aimed to foster business relationships, associations, and strategic alliances among top-level executives, government officials, business women, and emerging leaders in the Philippines. This year, the conference featured a prominent lineup of 25 leading women in commerce who shared their thoughts, ideas, and expertise.

The esteemed keynote speaker Charo Santos Concio, an Executive Consultant for ABS-CBN, set the tone for the event with a powerful address highlighting the importance of women's leadership and empowerment. Her speech resonated deeply with the audience, emphasizing the need for continuous support and collaboration among women to achieve greater heights.



The conference was organized into five segments, namely: (1) Women Leadership (2) Women Entrepreneurship, (3), Health, Beauty, Wellness, Nutrition, and Mental Health, (4) Women in Career and Profession and (5) The Modern Woman. Each session featured industry leaders who provided valuable insights and stories that inspire women. Following the sessions, a moderated panel discussions allowed for an interactive exchange of ideas, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose among the attendees.

Rayla Allertsen, the founder of Global Women BPW Manila and head of the I AM SAM Foundation, played a pivotal role in the success of the event. Her vision and leadership were instrumental in bringing together a diverse group of women committed to supporting and uplifting one another.

The Session speaker for Women Leadership was the Chairperson at Airspeed, Rosemarie Rafael. The Women Leadership panel speakers included the CEO of Barbie and Chicco Philippines, Myrna-Tang Yao, the Mayor of Lobo Batangas & CEO of Ginga, Hon. Lota Lazarte Manalo, and the CEO of Executive Genesis, Rhoda Castro-Caliwara. The panel was moderated by the CEO and Founder of Team Asia, Monette Hamlin.

Renowned for her innovative leadership and commitment to empowering women in the workforce, Sarah Deloraya Mateo, the CEO of SPD Jobs, Inc.  led the as the session speaker for Woman Entrepreneurship. Deloraya shared invaluable insights and strategies that have driven her success in the entrepreneurial world.

The Panel on Women Entrepreneurship included the CEO of Sunsmart Solar Power Technology, Jenny Maano, the CEO of Progressive Laboratories, Pinky Tobiano and the CEO of iONTEK Power Solutions Miles Ballestar moderated by the Founder & CEO of Executive Genesis Rhoda Castro-Caliwara.




The Session Speaker for Women in Profession and Careers was Atty. Gabby Concepcion, GMA-7 Television Host & Partner of NMGRA Law Offices. Her dual roles as a legal expert and a television personality uniquely positioned her to offer profound insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by women in their professional journeys. Her session provided attendees with practical strategies for career advancement, leadership development, and achieving a work-life balance, empowering them to lead with confidence and resilience in their respective fields.

The panelists for the Women in Profession and Careers included the President of SB Finance, Abbie Casanova, the CEO of All Transport Network (ATN), Mary Lou Estrada and Robotic Gynecologist Surgeon Dr. Rebecca Singson together with their Moderator Rhoda Castro-Caliwara.


The guest singer for this event that entertained the audience with her operatic voice was ICCPI associate member and Vice-President of Jocson Colleges, Leigh Jocson who sang Italian Classics such as Time to Say Goodbye and The Prayer.

An additional highlight of the event was the Miss Universe Questions. Similar the Binibining Pilipinas contest, the candidates were given questions they had to answer with focus on the promotion of women empowerment and gender equality.



The contestants included the CEO of Gilladoga Realty, Inc. Nikki Bautista-Gilladoga, the Managing Director of Aurus and CEO of Bizzgator, Ice Calderon, I AM SAM Ambassador from cupang Senior High School, the CEO of iONTEK Miles Ballestar and 69 year old Ms. Universe candidate, Joyce Cubales. This portion of the event was moderated by ICCPI Head of Marketing and Events Gabrielle Hahn-Lopez

The Session Speaker for the Modern Women Segment was the CEO of GCash, Martha Sazon followed by a fireside chat interview with Rayla Allertsen.




The panel discussion for the Modern Women segment included the CEO of Max Mara Philippines, Marilou Peña-Koa, the Executive Branch Director of AXA Insurance, Mary Ann T. Uyching and the Executive Director of Pocofino, Tesday Angliongto. The panel was moderated by life coach and Co-Founder of She Talks Asia, Vicky Herrera.
